Friday: There will be a small collard gleaning near Youngsville starting at 9:00.  I anticipate we’ll finish there in an hour or  less.  Then we’ll caravan to another farm 15-20 minutes away, east of Louisburg, where we’ll glean kale (beautiful purple kale!), turnips and rutabagas until about noon.

Saturday: We’ll be gleaning collards near Wake Forest from 10:00-12:00.

Ash Wednesday is the first day in the 40-day season of Lent. Please join us in the Sanctuary for an Ash Wednesday Service and the imposition of ashes this Wednesday, February 22, at 7:30 p.m. Additionally, Rev. Snider will offer the imposition of ashes during the morning hours on Wednesday, beginning at 7:30 a.m. in the Sanctuary.

Are you gifted? Deborah Horton will be leading a two part series “The Spiritual Gifts Inventory” which will help individuals identify their God-given gifts for living faithfully as Christian disciples day by day and to find meaningful ways to use their gifts in connection with others through the community of faith. The process helps groups understand the nature of spiritual gifts and ways to enhance the effectiveness of their gifts by linking together with others. Starting Monday, February 27, from 7:00 – 8:00 p.m. Pastor Meredith Snider will lead a 5-week study on Spiritual Disciplines in the Hyder House. Spiritual disciplines are practices and ways God created for us to encounter God’s grace (known as means of grace). They include prayer, Bible reading and study, fasting, communion, worship, and Christian small group fellowship. We will be going over each discipline and more in our 5 weeks together! This is a great way to learn how to spiritually grow during the Lenten season! Childcare will be provided.

The Preschool is now accepting items for our 6th annual Silent Auction which will be held March 7 – 11. Donating an item is a great way to advertise a business and support our Preschool. Coups For Troops! Drop off your unused manufacturers coupons at the church and they will be sent to military families overseas. Coupons may be expired, but only within the last month or two. A collection box for coupons is located on top of the mailbox cubbies in the church office hallway. Please join us on Tuesday, February 21, from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. for our annual Noah Hyder Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper. The menu will include pancakes, bacon, sausage (3 varieties), Banker’s famous sausage gravy, and sweet tea. The cost of the meal will be $6 for adults, $4 for children ages 4-12, and kids 3 & under eat free. Proceeds from the meal will go toward Fellowship Hall improvements for The Grove worship service. Valentine’s Day Truffles! The Middle School Youth are selling homemade oreo truffles again this year for Valentine’s Day. Surprise your sweetie with a box – or two! The Middle School Youth are also collecting gently-used or new coats, hats, gloves, scarves, and blankets that they will distribute at Moore Square in early February. Donated items may be placed in the collection box in the Narthex. The youth are willing to purchase needed items if you would prefer to make a monetary donation. Checks may be made payable to PGUMC with MSY Moore Square specified on the memo line.
