In The Church
United Methodist Men – The United Methodist Men are truly a cross section of this church. Active members (as everyone who attends PGUMC is a member) range from the 20’s to the 70’s. We meet 6 times per year (bi-monthly), starting in January on the 4th Tuesday of each month. The alternate months we are involved in either a Fundraising Activity (3 per year), Social Event (1 per year), or Mission/Service Activity (2 per year). Three of the meetings during the year will have a speaker from the community and the other three are essentially Business meetings as we get set to perform one of our fundraisers. We have dessert at each meeting and that allows us a time for Fellowship. The United Methodist Men strive to be a Fundraising arm for the church. All proceeds from UMM fundraising is either given to a community mission or directed right back at the church in the form of facilities improvements or aiding a fellow group or committee. This group is unique in that it truly spans all generations of the church and provides you an opportunity to get connected to PGUMC in a variety of ways. If you want to be a part of something where you can make a difference at PGUMC and beyond, then the UMM is the place for you. For more information, contact Bill Speri (UMM President) at speri@nc.rr.com.
United Methodist Women – The PGUMC United Methodist Women’s (UMW) group welcomes women of all ages, all backgrounds, and all religions. You do not have to be a member of the church to participate and you do not have to be Methodist. This fun group of women holds monthly programs that usually involve both a social/spiritual aspect to them, as well as an outreach focus. In addition to our monthly programs there are opportunities to join small group circles (see below), participate in off-site outreach activities, attend retreats and conferences, and help with fundraising opportunities. We hope you will consider being part of the UMW. For more information or to join, contact Suzanne Pfeifer (UMW c0-President) at suzanne.pfeifer@duke.edu and Rebecca Unger (UMW co-President) at rdu712@gmail.com.
UMW Circles - Women’s circles are small groups of women who share in fellowship, support each other, and grow in faith. Typically these are groups of women share similar interest and meet regularly to participate in prayer, devotions, bible study, outreach missions, and social activities. PGUMC has two Circles, the Morning Glory Circle and the Agape Circle.
- Morning Glory Circle: Meets the 2nd Tuesday of each month at 10:00 am. For more information please see Cleta Shaw and Ellen House.
- Agape Circle: Meets the 2nd Tuesday of each month at 7:30 pm. For more information please see Mary Ruth Hall or Jeanette Haynes.
