ACOLYTING

Children and youth, third grade and older, are invited to participate in our 8:30 and 11:00 worship services by acolyting. Acolytes serve by lighting the Christ candle and altar candles during the service signifying Christ's presence with us during worship and our mission to take Christ out into the world. Contact Ashley Yohman at ashley.yohman@pgumc.org if your child is interested in participating.

Little Seedlings
MOMCo

MOMCo is an international organization that gathers and supports moms. They believe in the simple but revolutionary idea that remarkable things happen when moms come together. Formally known as MOPS, they rebranded themselves in 2024 to have a broader inclusion of all moms including pregnant moms, moms with infants, preschoolers and school aged children.

MOMCo meets twice a month at Soapstone UMC for fellowship discussing various topics such as motherhood, discipline, finances, marriage, yoga, etc. Pleasant Grove hosts one of two standing playdates each month. They also have mom's night out at a local venue or restaurant and craft nights twice a year.

For more information, visit MOMCo - Soapstone UMC.

Safe Sanctuaries

We believe that God calls us to make our churches safe places, protecting children and other vulnerable persons from sexual and ritual abuse. God calls us to create communities of faith where children and adults grow safe and strong. Through this belief PGUMC has established a Safe Sanctuary policy. You can review our most recent update of our Safe Sanctuary policy here.

At PGUMC we strive to be the body of Christ who welcomes all. Following Jesus’ example, we celebrate the sacred worth and dignity of all persons. If you are just wondering about God and want to learn more, you are welcome here. If you have been a believer your whole life, you are welcome here. If you have questions, you are welcome here.

Whatever your race, national origin, sexual orientation, gender identity, marital or relationship status, physical or mental ability, economic circumstance, political persuasion, faith background, age, history, or station in life, you are welcome here. If you haven’t fit in anywhere else, you are welcome here.  Pleasant Grove UMC is a Lighthouse Congregation of the North Carolina Conference of the United Methodist Church, in partnership with The United Methodist Collective and the Office of New Faith Communities.

We invite you to bring your gifts, your pain, your doubt, and your hope, as together we learn, live, and tell the story of God’s Grace.
